Prompt, informed intervention can be a lifesaver. Simply having the confidence to get stuck in and
help could make the vital difference. Accidents on board leisure craft are mercifully rare, but when they
do happen help is rarely close at hand.
A valid First Aid certificate is a requirement for Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster Offshore candidates.
The RYA First Aid certificate fulfils the requirements of the MCA Code of Practice for small commercial
vessels up to category 2 and for all RYA practical instructors. The certificate is valid for 3 years.
This revised RYA First Aid syllabus is based on the recommendations of the Health and Safety Executive and
the Maritime and Coastguard Agency.
First Aid Manual
Students have access to our copies of the First Aid manual while participating in the course. If you would like your own
copy of the First Aid manual (rrp 12.99), it is available from us at the time of booking for £7.50 including postage.
We subsidise the cost because, a) pre-course reading makes the course more effective, and b) we would like you to have one aboard your boat.
